About Us

The Yakima Valley Aero Modelers is a Non-profit corporation dedicated to the safe pursuit of flying Radio Controlled Model Aircraft.  The club was established in the late 1960's and formally chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics in 1971, making it one of the oldest clubs in the nation.

The club flying field is at Ben's Strip, north of Zilah, Washington on Cheyne Road.  Club meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month in the fall and winter at the McAllister Museum of Flight at the Yakima airport on South 16th Avenue and Washington Blvd.  Metings during the summer months are held as close to the first Sunday of the month as possible in conjunction with a monthly, club sponsored picnic and club flying contest.  Visitors are welcome to attend.

Visitors are encouraged to come out to our flying field and try your hand at one of the club's trainer planes with the guidance of a club instructor.
